martha would be proud

I think Martha Stewart would be rather proud of me. In the last 2 weeks, I have made:
  • baby food
  • a homemade blueberry pie completely from scratch with blueberries I hand picked at a local farm
  • burp cloths, bibs, a tutu, and the cutest flower headband ever (all for my nieces)
  • scrapped 5 pages and 11 photos
  • holiday crafts for our ward's Super Saturday in October
  • picked peaches but haven't had time to make the cobbler or pie that I've been drooling just thinking about

That's all my tired brain can remember right now. I think I did some other stuff as well, but waking up at 4:45am this morning to drive Davis downtown did a number on my memory. (as well as a crazy day at the post office with a crying baby and a line that you'd only expect the day before Christmas!!)

Davis needed to practice docking the "Branderbelle" for his job as an official Pontoon Boat Captain so Gavin and I tagged along for the ride. It was fun exploring the resevior and soooo relaxing only going 4 mph and being on the water (oh yeah, it fulfills Davis's need for speed. haha:)

On Saturday, we went blueberry picking. Gavin even helped us pick some (video below).

Then we made a yummy blueberry pie with the berries we picked. I even made the crust! I used my Grandma Richins's "No Fail Pie Crust" recipe. This was only the 2nd homemade pie crust I have ever made and it turned out great and it was super easy.

Yesterday, Gavin and I went peach picking with Charisse and Coulter. The peaches were still a bit hard, but it was really fun climbing ladders and picking them. And the trees made cool "hallways" to walk through. I'm going to make some cobbler and maybe even a pie this weekend when Davis gets back from his rotation in Lynchburg. mmmm! Gavin was really good for his first road trip. He slept both ways. You can see both his teeth coming in if you look closely.

This morning Gavin and I went swimming, first time for Gav man. He wasn't too big of a fan. He tried to climb up me to get away from the water. If the water hadn't been so cold, I think he might have liked it.

The Gavin update: Gavin can sit on his own for like a minute now. He has two teeth coming in on the bottom, which are very sharp! Gavin loves cheerios and when we place then in front of him, he gets both hands up and attachs them. He's started eating little pieces of bread and bagel. He's starting to make talking sounds. His first was mamama (which he started doing a week ago today), then babababa, and as of yesterday, dadada. When he wakes up from a nap, he sits in his crib and talks. It's ridicously cute!! And when I'm feeding him, he'll stop and start talking to me. Love it!

Gavin is starting to get into things and learned how to roll to move around. Below he's under my love seat. Not real sure how he got there.

Lastely, this is for Mark. You asked for a picture of the corner shelf we made out of a door. Here it is.

Sounds like you are having fun being Martha Stewart!!! I wish I could have a bit of pie! Yummy! Gavin is so cute and it looks like you are having so much fun with him! ISn't it funny how they can find themselves so many places! Enjoy being able to keep up with him though! It gets harder as they get older!!! Keep having fun! And what is that recipe for pie crust? I have always wanted to make a pie from scratch and never tried it! Good luck!

The talking to you while he is eating part is too funny. Love the door corner. Hope you don't mind if I steel that from you someday. (the idea that is.)
